Panama

Le Panama fut ma première mission de l'année. Ce qui vous vient à l'esprit tout de suite quand on vous parle du Panama, c'est ce fameux canal reliant l'océan Atlantique à l'océan Pacifique. Depuis son ouverture en 1912, son impact sur le commerce maritime a été immense puisqu'il évite aux navires de faire route jusqu'au la pointe australe de l'Amérique du Sud, le Cap Horn, pour rejoindre le Pacifique.
Bref, je suis arrivé le 5 janvier 2008 à Panama City, la capitale du Panama (très recherché comme nom), située a l'embouchure du canal côte Pacifique. Le boulot là-bas consistait à étendre le port de commerce de Balboa pour pallier au traffic toujours croissant de porte-containers dans la zone. J'ai passé 6 mois sur ce projet jusqu'au 6 juin 2008.

Panama has been my first assignment this year. What is coming up to your mind at once when somebody discusses about Panama, this is the so-called canal connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. From its opening in 1912, the impact of the canal on the seaborne trade has been huge, as a bypass route and a shortcut, since it avoid ships steering southward till the tip of South America, Cape horn, to enter the Pacific Ocean.
Anyway, I arrived on January, 5th 2008 in Panama City, the capital of Panama, situated at the exit of the canal on the Pacific side. The job over there consisted in the expansion of the Balboa commercial harbour to compensate the surging traffic of container ships in the area. I spent 6 months on this project until June 6th 2008.
